Steve & Meredith’s Rushmore Estate wedding was filled with pure joy and excitement from beginning to end. Despite the clouds in the sky, I knew it would be a perfect day based on the beautiful sunrise on that perfect August morning. Steve started his day with a round of golf with his father and groomsmen at the local golf course. Meredith began her day by getting ready with her bridesmaids and the team from Abby Lauren Makeup. While the girls were getting ready, Meredith wrote her vows in her very carefreeness self; (nothing like waiting until the last minute).
One of my favorite characteristics about Steve & Meredith as they were a combination of old and new traditions. There was no first look for Steve or Meredith’s dad, and they had to wait until it was time to walk down the aisle to see the bride. So I’ll share a picture of their pup Knox, he really stole the show. Knox is the funniest and friendliest dog I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Know behaved himself for most of the day, but when he didn’t our assistant Kristin was there to keep him in line.
I love planning and designing weddings at Rushmore Estate as a wedding planner. It is such a stunning and unique venue for weddings. The 1911 Spanish Colonial ballroom’s high ceilings and natural light make it a bright and inviting space, and the flexibility to accommodate both small and large wedding parties makes it an excellent choice for any couple. The lavish landscape allows the couple to choose from many spots for the wedding ceremony.
Rushmore Estate Wedding Ceremony
At the Rushmore Estate wedding ceremony location that Steve & Meredith chose, the sky was a bright blue, and the sun was peaking from behind the ceremony tree. With everyone in place, the processional began, and Steve took his place. The moment Steve saw Meredith, he was taken aback, she was a vision, and she was walking right to him on a cloud no one else could see. The excitement and anticipation of this very moment can be seen by everyone as Steve watches Meredith walk towards him.
Rushmore Estate Wedding Reception
Remember when I said Steve & Meredith were a great combination of traditional and non-traditional? Rushmore Estate has so much beauty to offer couples and their guests, and S&M wanted to take full advantage of it. Rushmore threw caution to the wind, and with some guidance from Rogan & Co. Events, we did things a little differently. First, cocktail hour was different from your traditional hour-long cocktail hour. It was an hour and a half, and to kick it up a notch, we worked with Schultzy Raw Bar to make this cocktail hour something to talk about. Cocktail hour took place in the ballroom, where the reception traditionally took place. Since we were pushing the envelope, we put a sailcloth tent on the back lawn, and we brought in five food trucks for entrees and dessert and one for the after-party. This wedding was different and exciting because there was a guest list of 245 people, and we only had seating for 180. Meredith and Steve wanted their guests to take advantage of the property. Their philosophy was, please find a seat somewhere. There was no assigned seating. It sounds unconventional, but it worked out perfectly.
Maple Field Floral made the entire space feel romantic and welcoming. Bright, colorful floral combinations surrounded by votives with tapered candles lined the tables. To complete the tables, we curated custom chargers and dried fruit to add different textural elements to the tables. We also worked with Maple Field Floral to create a custom floral design and vintage lounge in the center of the tent for guests to enjoy
Once cocktail hour was done and guest made their way to the tented reception area, there was no stopping one of the most electrifying bands I have had the pleasure to work with, Right on Band, who made their way to the Hudson Valley all the way from Virginia Beach. Having enough seats for all the guests didn’t matter because no one sat down all night; the dance floor was packed all night.
Meredith & Steve’s wedding was one of the most fun weddings I did in the summer of 2022. Steve & Meredith were truly guests at their wedding, dancing the night away with their guests, enjoying the incredible food from the most delicious food & dessert trucks, to jumping in the pool in her wedding dress at the end of the evening. We can’t wait to see the video!
